Pudendal compression in males

Posted by tiziano @tiziano, May 7, 2020

I have questions as I was been diagnosed with pudendal compression 10 weeks ago, and am healing thanks to 8 weeks of physical therapy and dedicated yoga, but don't want to get too graphic about questions regarding the safety and timing of my returning to normal sexual activity for fear of relapse of genital discomfort, balanitis-type symptoms, soreness and such phenomena. Also, most of my back pain is gone, as is the coldness in feet. Any consultants who have counseled males with this problem and its healing? Thank you in advance for any pertinent info. I'm in a good space finally and don't want to relapse just because of any impatience.

Hello @tiziano, Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I have no experience with pudendal nerve entrapment but I did find a good article by the National Institute of Health that may provide more information for you. Pudendal Nerve Entrapment Syndrome: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK544272/

It sounds like the physical therapy and yoga really worked well for you. There is another discussion on Connect were members are sharing their experience that you may want to read and possibly post how physical therapy and yoga helped you.

Anyone used Spinal Cord Stimulation for pudendal nerve entrapment?:

Did your physical therapist offer any suggestions on the healing process?

She warned me it would take time and that this was an intractable nerve, to be persistent and patient(!). And to get a good chair, maybe a cushion, and to stand up more and limit time to computer to 45 minutes with 10-15 minute breaks. Thanks much.

I forgot to mention that there is another discussion that you really might find helpful. It has an excellent video that explains how Myofascial Release Therapy works.

Thank you, John! I will look into it. My neice is a MFR specialist so I can consult her perhaps, too!
