Anyone else dealing with shingles?

Posted by oldkarl @oldkarl, Apr 20, 2020

I now have shingles. My inoculation this year did not work. In fact, I am worried that I was given something else, as my shingles started up about two months after the shot.

My doctor told me that some people react to the Shingrex vaccine but your experience was not what she described. My dentist had the vaccine and he experience flu-like symptoms and just felt "under the weather" for a few days.

I had absolutely no side-effects from the Shingrex vaccine.

that was dentist. It was not me. I checked reviews on 02/13/ and on 02/15/20 I am sure more reviews has been added since those dates. If you want I saved the links to the reviews document form and pdf form. I can give you the direct link to start to read the reviews. Those reviews are from one site only and if you google reviews of the Shingrix vaccine you probably will come up with more reviews from other places. I don't make up symptoms, had many, many, tests done from a neurologist and a therapist that I had to go to. All I am telling you is do your research and then "you" decide what is best for you! Mine was a very bad experience and now I won't be taking any new vaccines especially the rushed Covid-19 when it becomes available.

I do not think for one minute that you are making up symptoms. My husband had the shingrex vaccine and had zero side effects. You reacted badly. Everybody is different. I am sorry that you had this experience.

Did you get the "old" shot, which was 50% effective or the new, 2-shot version? I had shingles twice, and got the shot. Within a year, the new one came out, and I have to wait a few more years to get it. However, I have not had a recurrence in the past 8 years. It is misery. Prescription lab recommended B-12 and capcasin cream for pain. (Use gloves for the cream as it is pepper and remains on your hands). If you can get in to the Dr right away, an anti-viral may help reduce your case.

I was just trying to point out that everyone should do some research but if no one wants to that is fine by me! Glad your husband had no problems. I didn't have any problems with the old shingles vaccine, the one with the live virus but the new one was quite a different story

I was very sick with the first Shingrex vaccine. I, literally, couldn't get out of bed all day until the nighttime. I was afraid to get the second injection, but I did. I was fine with the second one. The covid vaccine will be a different story. I'm going to wait longer to get it; not enough time for safety data.

Hello all. I am peach and I did not have the vaccine because my two endochronologist's told me not to. (I have many medical issues which forbids this.) Anyway I did get the shingles. Freezing, nausea with no vomiting, the rash, etc. I did not suffer to bad with this because the chronic venus insufficiency PAIN, PAIN, PAIN is so excrutiating it takes away the Shingle pains. The rash is quite painful. l have the Shingles for about two months now but do not worry about getting this. There are much worse medical problems. I am still waiting for the crusts to heal over the rash. But, do not take this to lightly as it can be serious depending on the many different patients and their many medical problems. What might be very important is: I looked up the symptoms on the internet and the different treatments because with this corona virus I did not want to expose myself by leaving the house and going to the doctor. If it would have gotten out of hand I most certainly would have gone to the doctor. Also there was no temperature. Keep your head and your mind open and smile when you hear the music. Love to all Peach

I used Chinese acupuncture by surrounding the dragon, eventually cutting off its head and tail. I also used Chinese salve. I have had some Post shingles neuropathy, but that is lessening.

My husband put Kaopectate on a cotton ball and dabbed on lesions to stop itching and dry it up.

@basslakebabe19 Can you tell me more about the acupuncture? Surrounding the dragon sounds so neat!

@charlena Was your husband ever prescribed a med for the lesions/shingles (an anti-viral)? That takes care of the lesions from the inside out. After three days of the med, my lesions were almost cleared up. I just had 3 lesions, and I don't know that amount or the severity of your husband's lesions.

If he hasn't been prescribed an anti-viral med you might ask his doctor if it would help.
