Visual Escapes and Daily Inspirations: Share Yours

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Mar 16, 2020

Let's create a space to offer a daily reprieve.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of uncertainty and fear into our lives. Some of that fear and uncertainty can be caused by over thinking what is going on or unnecessarily worrying. So, I'm making sure I wash my hands frequently, not touching my face, staying away from social gatherings and all of the recommended guidelines to help avoid getting or spreading COVID-19 but it can be a little boring. I try to not watch news all day long while I'm in this self imposed captivity. I like to take pictures of birds and other creatures from my window as a welcome break.

I invite you to join me in sharing pictures, favorite poems, sayings, mottos, funny moments. Let's take a daily break together.

@virgo1952 Loved your story and also the photo of your magnificent "refined, come hither bird! HMMMMM, in my day, I met al lot and even smooched a few outwardly "refined, come hither Turkeys" but alas, their actions didn't live up to their plummage...giggles. Your Tommy, otoh, looks like a real Keeper!

@fiesty76 great advise. @lioness also. I will purchase Ladybugs (unless lioness wants to send me some - only kidding) 🙂 AND plant nasturtiums too. Cause I like them and put them in my salads. My Mom planted nasturtiums ever year, so it’s a sentimental thing. Thank you for answering me. On the hunt for babies, heard there might be some at the lake 🤞Oh Boy.

@virgo, Lioness made great mention of the marigolds that ward off harmful critters because of their odor. Cannot believe I have such a challenge coaxing my yearly marigold seed to sprout...supposed to be..sigh...one of the easiest but I get better results with more finicky seeds by far. and..hint, hint, if you find some extra ladybugs...my mailing address is..... Smiles!

@lioness okey dokey. Going a la natural it is. Are u suggesting I Bleed for my garden? You know me to well. Will take your advise and pursue that avenue. Thanks I heard through the grapevine, that baby geese were spotted at the lake. It’s lightly raining this am, but I, virgo1952, will venture out in my pursuit of capturing photos of babies 😁 stay tuned ......

@virgo1952, I can't stop laughing!!! Sounds like something I'd ask! I buy blood and also bone meal...in pkgs... at nurseries and dig it in around spring bulbs after they finish their bloom. Another bulb tip is to place dog trimmed fur and stretched into a circle brillo pads in holes before planting bulbs to ward off squirrels who like to feast of tulips and others but not daffodil bulbs. Nothing worse that finding bulbs topside with one bite taken by those onery varmits!

@fiesty76 you’ll be first on my list! I have found with myself, the difficult I can conquer. It’s the simple that does me in every time.
