Hi, @ryman - perhaps members like @nobody @dsh33782 @trellg132 @dianais @rosemarya @imallears may have some insights for you from their own eye histories and they may be familiar with the eyesight out of focus and the dizziness.

What is your next step to address this, ryman? Will you be seeing an eye doctor soon?

Hello @ryman,

I am sorry to hear of this troubling vision problem. Eyesight is so important to us that changes like this can be frightening. The dizziness also complicates the situation.

While none of us on Connect are medical professionals and cannot make a diagnosis it does sound like a problem with convergence. Do you have any other health problems like double vision, balance or gait (walking) problems? There are many neurological disorders that can cause problems with convergence.

Here is some information about convergence problems in adults, https://www.mayoclinic.org/medical-professionals/ophthalmology/news/research-identifies-characteristics-of-convergence-insufficiency-in-adults/mac-20430990

If you have many of these symptoms you may want to talk with your eye doctor about it. The eye doctor may need to do specific testing as a part of your eye exam.

Will you post again and let me know how you are doing?

So sorry you are having vision problems. It’s very difficult to explain to doctors what we are seeing. My problem started on a cross country trip. I was under major stress (son had cancer) and I was driving him to California for a trial treatment. I chalked up the vision to stress.
That was December 2010. Had to block out one eye completely so I could see. Didn’t seem to matter which eye. So 2800 miles.
Coming back across country the same thing so again blocked one eye and figured strees
It kept up from time to time, sort of random. Never knew when. I went to my eye doctors and they change my lenses. No help.
Finally on August 12th 2019 I had my pre-op
For plastic reconstruction. When I left the hospital I couldn’t see much if anything. I finally got back to my home town and went straight to my eye doctors. They checked my eyes and determine I had vertical and horizontal dilopia. Did prisms in both lenses
Made a repeat visit and recheck showed eyes had worsen. To date no one has looked for a cause they just try to keep you visual.
I have high blood pressure ( DIA) is running about 110/120.
Cancer / Mucinous Carcinoma and thyroid - Hurdle Cell and Folicitot
This was diagnosed may 19 /2019
I suspect that these health issues are contributing to the problem. Just my thoughts here. I hope you are able to get help quickly for it’s a hard burden to bare.
Hope this helps you in some small way.
God bless

Update to vision problems. Was told yesterday that the eye problems are very likely coming from an increased level in the Parathyroid glands. -levels. You may want to have your doctor run a INTACT PTH along with all the other thyroid blood test. They told me it was the last thing they usually look for. I think it should be the first. My PTH levels are at 100

Hyperparathyroidism has lots of unusual symptoms, @nobody. A level of 100 is high. Did they also check the calcium level at the same time?

Here is some information about this from Mayo's website, https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hypoparathyroidism/symptoms-causes/syc-20355375.

I have this as well. You might find some support for this in one of Connect's discussions. Here is the link,

Will you be seeing an endocrinologist regarding this?

I saw endocryologist on Monday. Ultrasound and other thyroid test done. Calcium is also very high. TSH LEVELS from November 18 through present have more than tripled. Greater than 6 up from 1.00
Have only been on thyroid med since Monday. Don’t know yet if it will help. They told me it takes about a week to notice if it’s helping

Hello @nobody,

I'm glad that you posted an update and that you got to see an endocrinologist. I'm a bit confused, though, in that you originally talked about elevated Parathyroid hormone level and now you are reporting thyroid tests being done. Perhaps you are unaware that the parathyroid and thyroid are two different glands (located near each other in the neck area). The parathyroid is what helps control the calcium levels in your blood and can, of course, affect bone loss and lots of other problems.

Since you also mentioned TSH levels perhaps both your thyroid and parathyroid are problems?
