Anyone with Chronic Pain, Fibromyalgia or Hypothyroidism tried Keto?

Posted by persist @persist, Oct 1, 2019

Has anyone with chronic pain/fibromyalgia/hypothyroidism tried it? I am also interested in CBD oil stuff living in Wisconsin. Thoughts?

@persist I have fibromyalgia, also chronic pain. While I would love to try the keto diet, it is not advised for me, as I also have chronic kidney disease, and must watch my protein intake. I hope you will get some information from other members here, who can answer your questions.

I'm from Wisconsin and have access to hemp CBD oil made in other states. There is a new producer, however, which I intend to try. ALternative Systems LLC is a local hemp grower and Processor in Augusta, Wisconsin. The ad states no "chemicals, no high heat, no gases, no added MCT oils." It is also cold-pressed. It is a "blend of cranberry, sunflower, hemp, and coconut oil." I plan to try the Cherry Wine CBDA. Call 715.210.7675 or research online at http://www.haycreekhemp.com or http://www.alternativesystemsllc.com.
I have no connection to this producer; I merely saw the ad in a local advertiser. I intend to give it a try.

@persist thanks Ginger but I don't know anything about the KETO diet I do know with fibro you need protein not in excess but I for along time didn't eat any meat per my cardiologist when I had my by pass but now I do eat chicken 2x a week and fish occasionally I will eat red meat. But I found a hemp chamomile tea that I like when my pain acts up .

I agree with those above with cbd helping pain. Be patient it can take over a month to see benefit.
As far as keto with intermittent fasting works much faster. By the end of week you’ll have less pain and more energy. High protein with kidney disease could be a potential problem. I have a high creatinine and BUN and it hasn’t changed since starting diet year ago. Feel much better on diet, more energy, not hungry. Be sure to drink lots of water on this diet if you have kidney disease. Wouldn’t hurt to run by your doctor. My doctor was happy with it. Was hospitalized recently and off diet and could feel a difference. Good luck.

I've been doing Keto since 2018, but fell DEEEEP off the wagon last year due to Covid/depression/my dad dying. But I'm back on the wagon.

It works for me.

I also like CBD products. I've tried salves, gummies, vapes. Trying to figure out the most efficient and effective way to take it, along with most cost effective.

Keto is 70% healthy fats, 25% protein, 5% carbs. The actual macros would depend on your needs. I am also trying to lose weight so I have my net carbs pretty tight. When I'm strict I do very well. I was down 80 lbs.

Hello @super8cat, Welcome to Connect, an online community where patients and caregivers share their experiences, find support and exchange information with others. I think COVID sent a lot of us into the dumpers last year so I can't imagine how hard it must have been for you to also lose your father. Good for you to get back on the wagon to help yourself. While we wait for other members to offer suggestions I thought you might be interested in another discussion here on Connect.

Hello @ventbob, Welcome to Connect, an online community where patients and caregivers share their experiences, find support and exchange information with others. There is a condition called Dysesthesia that sounds similar to what you are describing. I'm hoping other members will be able to offer some suggestions for you. @nanna and @dablues have mentioned dysesthesia in other discussions and may be able to offer a suggestion.

All you need to know about dysesthesia: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/319700

Have you discussed the symptoms with your doctor or have you seen a neurologist?
