Will CBD oil help reduce withdrawal symptoms of tapering down Effexor?

Posted by ercoled57 @ercoled57, Sep 30, 2019

I started tapering down Effexor XR from 150 mg to 112.5 mg yesterday. Here it is the 2nd day and I'm already feeling the withdrawal symptoms. I feel sleepy, anxious, and it's hard to concentrate. I am practicing mindfulness meditation daily, have started to walk on my breaks, and eat a healthy diet. I also start counseling this Friday for support. Will adding CBD oil help? I have been on some form of antidepressant since 1995 (for post partum depression). I was first on Paxil and then when that did not help anymore I was switched to Effexor. This was about 2005. This will be my 3rd attempt stopping Effexor. The first attempt I tapered from 300 mg down to 0 over months yet the withdrawals were horrible and I went back on 150mg. About a year and a half ago I tried tapering down briefly and again I stopped tapering and went back on 150mg. Here it is my 3rd attempt and I want to be successful.

i used cbd oil when tapering from effexor this summer and yes it does help. it is great that you are doing counseling too, the taper is not easy as you know since youve done it before, good luck.

@brightwings @jakedduck1 and @artscaping may have some thoughts on the idea of using CBD as one tapers off venlafaxine (Effexor).

Marijuana is legal in Arkansas.
My friend with soooooo many medical problems, heart, diabetes, kidney, I could go on and on.
He has developed his own CBD/THC recipe.
2 tsp ground weed
2 tsp vodka
6 Tbsp coconut oil
6 Tbsp olive oil.
Mix together, store in glass jar with lid.
It is ready in 8 hours.
He uses 1 tsp to cook 2 scrambled eggs in the morning.
The cooking is the last step on creating the CBD/THC process.
Our dispensaries open soon in Missouri.
PS.
You need the vodka to activate the thc and cbd. Do not leave it out.

See your physician. CBD is touted as an elixir for everything without much scientific support. I use a CBD ointment for an arthritic finger and it helps, but that is a topical application. Why are you trying to get off Effexor? Surely your physician/psychiatrist can and will work with you to change medications or convince you to continue with Effexor. I would be very wary of the CBD vendors showing up on every corner. Wishing you the best.

I am not sure who you are addressing @elwooodsdad so I will jump in.
Ok so you used it as an ointment and it works. Those were your words or something to that effect.
I used cbd internally as directed on the packaging.
I had tension and anxiety while getting off the Effexor. I still do.
I am living a triumphant life being off 16 medicines that kept me dopped up.
I am now an Elder in my tribe and help folks heal.
I am doing what God intended me to do and if that means I use CBD then so be it.

Just a general response to be cautious. Not all products are the same, concern about interaction with other drugs, etc. Seems to be working for you, and I’m pleased for you.

If you google what’s in your CBD you find a great link.
