Anyone had Zephyr Valve Procedure at Mayo Clinic?

I had a couple placed in my left lung to help heal a pneumonthorax. It plugged my lung up! The valves were removed 3 weeks later once I healed. The procedure was fine, however,, I did have lung inflammation and pain after the valves were placed. The hospital I was at said they only have used the valves on 10 people in the us. This was 4 years ago. I have no pain today.

Fracturedd I had Zephyr Valves placed in June in Chicago. Only the bigger Hospitals are doing this and they have years of experience with all sorts of valves. It's painless and I had no problems at all. I can do things now that I couldn't do for a few years. I highly recommend the procedure to everyone.

I also moved your post to this existing discussion so that you connect with members like @djallan @carolannz and @fracuredd who live with obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and may have had endoscopic lung volume reduction, sometimes also referred to as Zephr valve (one manufacturer).

This procedure, which recently was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), treats patients experiencing disorders associated with chronic COPD, including advanced emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Only a few medical centers nationwide offer this treatment.

Dana, is your father a candidate for this procedure? Is he already a patient at Mayo Clinic?

Thank you for linking and moving my question. I’m new at this. My dad is not currently a Mayo patient (I am though 😎). How do I know if he is a candidate for the procedure? Is there a checklist?

Were you able walk any distance and did you still take inhalers,oxygen,nebulizer after the valves
