Posted by jammer @jammer, Jul 8, 2019

I have my first appointment with Mayo on Aug. 5th. They have assigned me to Dr. Tatari, has anyone seen him before. IF so what do you think of him.

@jammer Yay!! I am so happy that you are going to Mayo! My doctor, Dr. Leventhal is retiring next month (sad face) and he has been grooming his replacement, Dr. Johnson. She has won medical awards and is really into her specialty of mac & bronchiectasis. What Ihave loved about my dr is that he uses unconventional treatment with great results. I have been mac-free since 2014 without going on the Big 3. That conversion happened after having been desparately ill for about 10 yrs. I was on the verge of needing a double lung transplant. I feel normal and whole now. I owe my life to Mayo. I hope that your experience there will be as wonderful as mine. Please keep me posted. Good luck!

@windwalker Can I ask what your treatment was that was so successful for you, which is great by the way!

@lmh7 Many people ask me that question. You can click on my picture icon and my treatment plan should pop up. Let me know if you have any questions. Just know that my plan may not work for everybody. It depends on your susceptibility testing and specie of mac. But, at least you will have an idea of another mode of treatment. Do you have results from your susceptibility test?

@jammer I go for my first appt at Mayo on August 20th. I have been on the Big 3 now for about 20 months. My current Pulmonologist and ID don't know what the best course of action is right now. So, I told them I needed more answers that I just am not sure what to do next.

@jammer Hey there! How did your appointment at Mayo go?

Just recently diagnosed with MAC at Mayo in West Central Wisconsin and unable to get appointment until June probably due to covid 19. From what I have read who and where you receive treatment is vital to successful treatment. Who is the premier/successful doctor at the MAC center Mayo in Rochester?

I'm a pulmonary patient at Rochester and my doctor is Teng Moua. I don't koow how he is rated at Mayo's but when they assigned me to him, they said he was one of the best. (Of course, they probably say that about all -- and frankly, I think they are all equally qualified. They rather work as a team and they consult with their colleagues on most everything) I think you will be pleased but please write again after you've been there.

It's really nice to know someone else using Dr Moua. Am wondering if I could get your email address. Would perhaps like to correspond with you from time to time. I started seeing him in 2015. Will be happy to share my address (if it's allowed on this site)????

Has anyone here heard of Dr Thomas at Rochester, Mayo? That’s who I’ve been seeing and feel good about him but have mixed results when trying to communicate through his portal. They seem to have a slower response time than other specialists I see there.
