Sharp quick pains post myectomy - Any thoughts?

Posted by reenj62 @reenj62, Jun 8, 2019

I am 5 days post operative. I am home. The last few days I've had quick sharp pains a couple times a day that only last a second, but boy they are sharp! Has anyone else experienced this. Should I be concerned or is this part of the healing process. Thank you

Hi @reenj62, I moved your message to the HCM group as you requested. You ask about having quick sharp pains only days post myectomy. I'd like to bring in fellow members @cynaburst @lisa7 @ronaldpetrovich @carsangelop @rrowner2 @dp52350 and @joerussell to this discussion. Some of them had surgery years ago and others quite recently. They can share their experiences.

Reenj, are you still experiencing the sharp pains today? Did you contact your surgeon's office?

I had three yesterday. But none today so far

It is really hard to know what is causing your pain. I suggest calling your surgeon's service. Where did you have your surgery? Obviously some pain after surgery is too be expected. But, if you have any other symptoms - fever, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, you should call your doctor or, depending on the severity, go to the ER. Always call if in doubt.

Between your houlder blades? I had them, but the bigger problem I had was pain from brachial plexus.

I am staying in hotel across from St Mary's . I have a appointment with NP tomorrow morning then should be able to go home. I have no fever, still a little short of breath, I'm getting a little over 1000 on my breathing thing that measures your ML inspired volume. And it was always after I ate or walked and felt kinda exausted. Thanks for your responses I truly appreciate it. Dr Shaff did my myectomy
