Premature ovarian failure

Posted by lisgr58 @lisgr58, May 22, 2019

My daughter is 34. She was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure at age 20. Since then she has been on a physical and emotional roller coaster. She is on hormone replacement as well as anxiety and anti depressants however nothing has seemed to work. In her words she says that she wants to crawl out of her own body. We are desperately in search of a team of professionals, i.e. gynecologist who specialized in menopausal medicine, psychiatry and therapy. We are searching for a gynecologist who is well versed in menopausal medicine and who can take the time to focus on her problems. Specialists who will take the time to listen to her, treat her and continue ongoing dialogue with her.

Hi, @lisgr58, and welcome to Connect. I can tell you are a mom who really cares about her daughter and her well-being. The idea of being on a physical and emotional roller coaster over many years and her feeling like she wants to crawl out of her own body sound very hard.

Here is some Mayo Clinic information on premature ovarian failure you may be interested in https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/premature-ovarian-failure/symptoms-causes/syc-20354683

If you are interested in the possibility of having your daughter seen at Mayo Clinic, please use this link to request an appointment in gynecology with the specialty interests you mentioned http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63.

I'd also like to introduce you to others on Connect who may know something about your daughter's condition or who may be able to provide some support as you seek the right care for her, like @aldrichgirl @becsbuddy @baxtersmom @marylcsw @lioness.

You mentioned, @lisgr58, that HRT and antidepressants and antianxiety medications have not seemed to work. What symptom from her premature ovarian failure has been the most bothersome?
