Relationships are challenging even during the best of times. When you or your spouse is experiencing a medical problem, be it physical or mental condition, it adds a whole new dimension to the relationship. What have you found to be problematic in your marriage since your diagnosis, and what are some, if any, solutions that you have found to improve things?

Hi...my husband has a TBI ...and he hit me .he i think knows what hes doing ..hes verbally abusive...i plan on leaving ..is that a good idea .. ?

@kw1904861 earlier you said that you found a safe place. Will this work for you? What did the National Domestic Abuse Hotline suggest for you? I can’t tell you what to do, but I hope you’ll decide on what’s best and safest for you. Please stay in touch. Becky

I did find an apt ..waiting on an approval now ..maybe monday or tuesday.. My husband doesnt want me to go now .... Keeps asking why are u going ..? I feel so bad for leaving ..but he did raise his hand again ..without anything .very verball...

I might possibly be moving into my place tomorrow...still at home ..will be better after i get in there ...

@kw1904861 I’m so glad you kept moving forward. I know you love him and you can go back someday. Maybe he’ll have time to think about how much he needs you and the love and care you show him everyday. What are you thinking as you make this move?

Hi there. Words and anger.....yes, I went through the same thing for years, and finally could not take it any more. I had my hubby move out into his own apartment three months ago. We get along great now. I suspect he has arterial dementia coming on (his mom had it, as did most of her siblings). This disease often causes a person to have a very short fuse and nasty disposition at times. We are good friends, and I will look after him as this disease progresses. For right now; we are both enjoying the serenity of separate living quarters.
