Persistent breast pain

Posted by 2acetylcoa @2acetylcoa, Mar 6, 2019

Hello, I'm an 18-year-old girl who's been experiencing persistent pain in my right breast for 2-3 months. It ranges anywhere from minor to quite irritating, and seems to vary throughout the day with short periods of disappearance.

I've been looking for anything similar on the internet for as long as I've felt the pain, and it seems to have lasted for far too long to be infection or cycle-related. Is this anything to be concerned about?

I am 17 years old and I have been experiencing similar, but mine is on the left side. Is it on the right side below the armpit?

No, it feels as if it's right in the center of my breast.

Hi, @2acetylcoa and @karina77 - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I'm sorry to hear you've been having this breast-area pain.

I'd like to invite a few Connect members into this conversation who might have some thoughts for you, like @hopeful33250 @baxtersmom @mamacita @becsbuddy and @gingerw.

I'd also like to share some information from Mayo Clinic on breast pain: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/breast-pain/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20350426.

Have either of you had the opportunity to have a doctor evaluate you related to this pain? If so, what did they think about it?

@2acetylcoa Good morning. I’m very sorry that you’re experiencing breast pain. I’m sure it’s annoying and frustrating. Have you been referred to a gynecologist so you can get your hormone levels checked? Also, many women’s clinics and Planned Parenthood and cancer centers will have a breast specialist on staff. Try to see one of these. Best of luck to you! Let us know what your plans ar and what you find out. Becky
