Polar plunge for Minnesota Special Olympics

Posted by ihatediabetes @ihatediabetes, Mar 3, 2019

Hi everyone, I did the Polar Plunge yesterday in Minneapolis. The lake used to be called Lake Calhoun. There were people watching from behind a chain link fence. There were four divers in wetsuits waiting for us to jump. The lake is now called Bde Maka Ska, the original Native American name. I went with Highland Friendship Club in St. Paul. We met at Famous Dave's in Uptown Minneapolis for lunch. Then we took a shuttle to the lake. And we all jumped into the water. It was pretty cold water. I went under and got my hair wet too. Luckily it was about 20 degrees yesterday. It's below zero now. Our group included people with developmental disabilities that participate in Special Olympics. They took the Polar Plunge too. Then we all went into a heated tent and put on dry clothes. The shuttle took up back to town. I think out group raised about $9000 for Minnesota Special Olympics. Fun times.
