Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More

Posted by Debbra Williams, Alumna Mentor @debbraw, Feb 22, 2019

Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

Well, I would say Yum to that but Leonard and pesto? Oh you’ll be hearing from him lol. And there’s different types of pesto so he’s probably already in a quandary.

If you’re ever near here I’ll give you directions. I freeze mine. $100 would get you 20 fillets.
Steve’s Produce 515 Alt 19, Palm Harbor Fl. They have homemade sausage...Greek and Italian items and I think it is on Wednesday that chicken cutlets are 2.99 lb with 5 lb purchase. Fruits and veggies vary..sometimes good sometimes soso....about a half hour from me.

@jakedduck1 Here’s something to try while it’s still summer. Pesto and tomatoes and onions and Parmesan cheese on any kind of pasta. Mmmmm good. Hot or cold! And quick

Pesto, that’s a green slip isn’t it?
Canned tomatoes and precut onions ok?
About how fast? Does the pasta have to be rinsed?

@jakedduck1 NO canned tomatoes! Fresh only! Pre-cut onions are ok if they don’t taste sharp. Rinse pasta only if you’re going to eat it cold. Otherwise, don’t rinse. Happy eating!

Maybe I should fly down and get some too and you can invite me to stay a week or two or three and show me how to cook it and teach me to fix all your recipes. I’ll even let you take me out and maybe I’ll try some octopus, maybe. I’ll even buy you some really nice wine, I hear ripple is good. Although I’d hate to shame you in a high class restaurant with my uneducated taste buds. We might have to get fast food. Got Carl’s Jr. back there, it’s my favorite.

Won’t be anything happy about it if I have to chop a fresh tomato.

I never rinse pasta and I save about a cup of pasta water in case it dries out.
Why dont you get some cherry tomatoes and saute hem with onions in olive oil
Oregano and garlic salt or powder. Will taste better than canned

Oh good grief!
Get tiny cherry tomatoes and saute whole and watch them burst in the oil.
I hope you're taking notes from everyone.

@imallears - One of these days! I love St. Petersburg and when we're there I occasionally drive up to Tarpon Springs. I'm going to keep this in mind. I'll let you know when I need directions. Thanks!
