Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More

Posted by Debbra Williams, Alumna Mentor @debbraw, Feb 22, 2019

Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

Good luck with the deliveries! I've been using it for about 6 months now, I've learned by trial and error.

@lioness canned veggies are squishy, yuck! Not suppose to have canned stuff. I think because of salt. What’s the big deal, I don’t have high blood pressure. Maybe it’s a kidney stone issue. No butter either.

Chai Tea Lattes! I just love these drinks at coffee shops. I've discovered a new coffee shop called Dead Poets Espresso (in my area) that I really enjoy visitting, and they serve a wonderful Chai Tea Latte. I was craving one today and found this recipe. Dead Poet's Espresso charges almost $6 for the darn latte, so I was investigating today just what the heck is in it, and here's what I found, cinnamon and spices!

Chai Tea Latte appears to be healthy (so many spices), except I order mine with skim milk and whipped cream. I can imagine the whipped cream cancels out the skim milk.... Also, alot of brown sugar according to this recipe anyway, I didn't realize that.... My dream is to concoct a Chai Tea Latte at home.

I'll cite Terry Wahls in Iowa, the neurologist who treats MS with palleo food, she says to eat 200 different plant materials each year (I think.....), to treat MS, another autoimmune disorder like myasthenia gravis, so I'll have to add all of these spices to my palleo spreadsheet 🙂 I have yet to cure my MG with food, but I'm trying.

@jakedduck1 and @lioness , @colleenyoung and @lisalucier are there coffee drinks that you enjoy?

I've contacted the all powerful at Connect (Colleen and Lisa), my username should change to something more user friendly soon, like perhaps even @Erin37 or something similar, I'm waiting in anticipation to find out my new handle on Connect ! We should celebrate with a virtual Latte when the change happens 🙂

Oh SUPER MEGA YUCK. I will never understand how any half way rational thinking person with even the slightest bit of sanity can actually enjoy that horrid concoction. I went to a couple birthday parties and they served coffee flavored ice cream, talk about cruel and unusual punishment. I haven’t gotten over that yet. I think it gave me Post Traumatic Shock Disorder. My Mother loves the nasty brew, black no less. But she initially used half coffee and half half & half. Either you like something or you don’t. You shouldn’t have to get use to it. NOW, if you want want to enjoy something drink Dr Pepper, yummy.
So no, there are ABSOLUTELY NO coffee drinks that I enjoy. And anyone who pays $6.00 for such a disgusting tasting substance well I don’t know but perplexed I and perplexed I’ll always be.

As always, @jakedduck1, your opinions are flavorful! Yes, Dr. Pepper would be my ideal way of enjoying caffeine, but it is certainly not the healthiest. I agree, though, that paying a high price for coffee drinks is not my way to indulge in my coffee-habit.
