Cracked ribs

Posted by klaubi @klaubi, Feb 12, 2019

Hi everyone. My name is Karen. I've been dealing with between 3-12 cracked ribs according to a hospital diagnosis which started as a bad cough from asthma/bronchitis. I've been off work because of the pain . I go back and. Can't finish the shift . I'm stressing out about my job and the financial concerns that come up.

I've had cracked ribs a couple of times. You have my empathy, as it really hurts. Sneezing and coughing are the worst. The good news is that it will heal and the pain will go away. Hang in there.

Thank you. Do you have a guess how how long the healing takes? When I go back to work will I need to tough it out and deal with the pain while I'm working/moving . I appreciate any thoughts .

@klaubi Ouch, ouch, ouch!! A cracked rib does hurt. I was working at a plant nursery and ended up with a cracked rib. I took a couple of days off. I had them taped and went back to work with limited lifting. It was uncomfortable and it took about a month for things to feel better. I could not have returned to work had it not been taped. I can remember it hurt to breathe too. Have you seen a doctor?

I wanted to thank @mickj and @parus for responding to your post. How does it feel to breathe at this point? Is that painful for you?

Breathing is ok. Trying to cough and move is painful. It's very frustrating right now
