depression/anxiety

Posted by brit @brit, Feb 3, 2019

Today if feel so anxious and depressed. I say that because I feel that every day. Nothing changes and you know what because I am not doing anything for myself. Tomorrow I am starting a new yoga class it will be here at home alone. Its a start and I am tired of feeling this way and I must do something to
help myself instead of hoping the Lord will do it. I have to partisipate too. Wish me well and will keep you posted. God Bless Patti

@gingerw It’s so interesting that you’re taking a class to become a zentangle teacher! I love to look at pictures and always marvel at how intricate and beautiful they are! I always thought maybe I’d do one by quilting the design, but....I get lost. Congratulations on your art!

@becsbuddy Thank you very much. Go for it! I have been a quilter since 1988! Machine piece, hand quilt. Hand applique. My two sewing machines are an old Singer portable, and an old Kenmore 1040. I have already thought about a Zen quilt series, kind of a pieced top with Zentangle patterns for quilting.

No instant "feel better" or seeing results that last without putting something into it. Keeping at it is the key. Also the hardest most challenging part. Some times even watching a video can be incentive and inspiration. Try to find a video on something you like with something you have on hand. Try not to watch something thinking I don't have a yoga mat, I don't have the right paper or brush. It is not the equipment that helps us. Same is true with being creative. @merpreb When I get in that mode of being uninspired I watch a video on things I am interested in to get those juices flowing. Bone up girl-this goes for me as well. Hardest part can be dragging out the supplies.
I struggle with that "why bother" attitude daily. Well now may be an idea for a thread with the "why bother" attitude. Never have been one for starting things.

@parus- I don't know, this might be your second "I don't start things". Teresa, want to handle this one?

Wow, @parus. You have written some amazing and helpful ideas. I love the idea of starting a "Why Bother Attitude" discussion. Would you like to start the thread? Anyone can start a new thread. Here's how to do it. Just go to the top of this screen and click on the Blue Letters that say, "Depression & Anxiety." That will take you to the homepage for all of the discussions under this topic. Then click on Start A New Discussion. I'd be interested in seeing the title, "Why Bother: What To Do When You Feel Stuck."

How does that sound @parus?

@hopeful33250 There you go with your gentle nudges...There are similar threads. Okay, okay...Yes, I know how. The cowardly lion is swishing his tail. The scarecrow needs a brain and the tin man cannot find his oil can.
