Depression really setting in

Posted by hgarm @hgarm, Jan 28, 2019

Things have been rough the past couple of months with My health. Seeing as there doesn't seem to be a light at the end if this tunnel I have found myself slipping further into depression. I no longer enjoy anything, I am barely sleeping or eating, I feel like I am watching my life through a fig that just keeps getting thicker. I seem to cry more and more each day. I went to see a therapist today hoping that it would help but it was just a consult and I think it made things worse because it brought up things that I worked really hard to push back. I feel like I am drowning and there is no way to come out of it and I just was hoping that there was help out there.

@hgarm As the others have said, be careful, and be gentle on yourself. As you didn't say how long ago your surgery was, it may be an after effect of anesthesia. Talk to your primary doctor about that, or the surgeon. Sitting in a chair and doing seated movements may help. Do you have any comedy or light hearted videos/movies? Remember, taking a shower and putting on fresh clothes often lifts your mood. Fix a favorite meal, reach out to family or friends that will understand and support you, especially good if they are physically close. I hope you keep talking to us. Many of us have been in the depths of despair.

I am 2 weeks post op and according to my surgeon these symptoms I have been having are not related to my surgery. I just keep getting told that they don't know what's wrong with me and it's just getting worse. I don't know how else to get better if no doctor's can help me and that has made me loose hope

@lioness, @becsbuddy- Since @hgarm is active on this post it's always better to address her and tell her how you feel instead of someone else. PM is always available for more personal messages.
Maybe say something like: I feel so badly for you @hgarm, may I give you a lesson?

@hgarm It can be disheartening when those in the healthcare profession invalidate you. Do you have a therapist? Surprised the doctors have not asked this so presuming you do. It does take time to bounce back from a surgery and everyone responds differently to trauma placed on the body. It could be that there is nothing more they can do. Are you taking care of yourself by eating healthy and doing some moving to keep your blood moving, drinking plenty of water? Sounds trivial but it is important.

@hgarm- I think that we have discussed your weight loss before. Did you ever see a GI doctor? You've had a lot of problems since your gallbladder removal. Several of us have recommended that you go to the emergency room immediately but you didn't want to. Are you eating anything at all? Are you drinking water?
