This Is A Confusing Place

I'm sure there's a rhyme and reason to these forums but I haven't found them yet. Very nice people respond to posts and give lists if @....members but when you click on those you find comments that have nothing to do with your issues. Notifications of posts are also none related. I apparently have a lot to learn if I don't get frustrated and leave first.

I agree, there are very nice people who respond to posts here. It is a very informative and supportive community. Here's how you can get the most out of it.

Connect is divided in groups. Click this link to see a listing of all the groups https://connect.mayoclinic.org/groups. Further down this same page is a listing of the most recent discussions and activity.
When you follow a group, you receive email notices whenever a new discussion is started or message added. Learn more about how to follow a group here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/get-started-on-connect/#how-to-follow-group

Connect allows you to @mention other members so they are alerted when you've posted something that includes them. The moderators use the @mention to help connect members. For example, if you post something about "high blood pressure" or "laminectomy", we search for other members who have talked about the topic, and bring them into the conversation. Clicking the @membername brings you to the member's profile page where you can see their recent posts. While at times their recent posts may seem unrelated, we know they have talked about it in the past. It is a significant part of the moderating team's job to get to know members and help connect people with similar experiences. Sometimes we can't make an exact match because we only know as much as people tell through their messages. But we always make sure that no message goes unanswered đŸ™‚ As Connect grows both in members and activity, more exact matches will be made. Thanks to all who are pioneering the way.

Yikes! I read something here about getting vitamin D from milk, red meat, and tuna. I HAVE to have 4,000 IU of D daily because I'm deficient. I get 1/2 from a supplement and 1/2 from my food. I'm part-time vegetarian. It's totally doable without red meat! I drink vanilla soy milk...yummy! Tuna is probably the worst of the fishes for D, but you could get good advice on the catch of the day at your deli or grocery store. Recipes are easy, quick and easily found on Pinterest (My favorite) and I do love whole eggs, hence the "part-time" vegetarian! The Swank Diet is what I follow. It's all online! I've been doing it for years, but there is a book by Professor Jelinek called Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis that spotlights the Swank Diet, named after the Dr who created the diet.
