NASH and cirrhosis of the liver.

Posted by mollyb1968 @mollyb1968, Sep 1, 2016

I have type 2 diabetes and have been diagnosed with chronic non-alcoholic steatohepatitis with mild intracytoplasmic cholestasis. Minimal lobular actvity. Scattered lymphocytic infiltrates noted within the portal tracts with minimal hepatocyte necorsis and mild portal fibrosis. Due to also having portal hypertension, gastric varices and stomach polyps, it has been suggested that I may have cirrhosis of the liver as well. Does anyone else have this diagnosis and should I be greatly concerned? Is there treatment for this? Any help would be appreciated.

sharon, Here is information from Mayo Clinic's Patient Care & Health Information
Diseases & Conditions - Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/nonalcoholic-fatty-liver-disease/symptoms-causes/syc-20354567

I think this will help you to gather some information as you move forward. What have your doctors said so far?

I can understand your fear and also your concern. Hunting for information can become a confusing journey of itself. My personal opinion is ti keep searching, but at the same time be cautious about what you read. For example, there is a lot of misleading information that can be misleading and harmful. Check only reliable sources like Mayp Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic,MmajorMmedical Facilities and the NIH (NationalIinstitute of Health).

Again I want to emphasize that your own doctor is the one who is best informed and aware of your own health needs. Please turn to him/her with your questions.

Waiting is so hard! I wish I could send you peace and patience and a treatment plan. I hope that when you do get the results, that you will also learn how to diffuse your (in your words) ticking timebomb.
When is your appointment to get the results?

Yes I'm sure they will be there to answer any ? I ask. This disease is common and I'm sure they just haven't got all the results I was curious and wanted to ask someone besides Google. To learn a little bit about it.
