Right Sided Groin Pain In Female. Muscle Or Nerve Damage?

Posted by LeighO57 @leigho55, Aug 16, 2016

Has anyone ever experienced a popping sensation in the rib cage area after having a CT myelogram? Then after the nerve block wares off you have a pressure so heavy in your groin feeling like something is going to fall out but it is not. For nine months I have gone through Bio Feedback therapy, ultra sounds, x-rays, trigger point injections, MRI's, steroids, numerous medications, etc... and no one can tell me what happened. And some how my Levator muscle got severely damaged. No prolapse either. Is this a damaged muscle or Nerve? I would love to know if anyone else is living in this nightmare like I have been for the past nine months.

@leigho55 Sorry for the break but my dog wanted to go out and I had to let her go or she might have gone inside!! You have a lot of pain and not much luck with doctors. I have been to Mayo's before and they were very good. Sometimes it is just finding the right doctor. I suffered with sciatic nerve pain from a back injury for years. Then one day while seeing a neurologists for another problem I asked about my back and the sciatic pain, he pulled up an old MRI and suggested I try a muscle relaxer when the pain hit. I already had a muscle relaxer so I tried it and what do you know it worked!! My sciatic pain went away after a hour or so. It was just by chance and desperation that I asked this guy about it. You see you just need to keep trying to find things that might work, and keep asking.
I do not know where Jacksonville is, but Mayo's has clinics in other parts of the United States so there maybe one closer to you if you checked. You can also talk to Mayo's finance center to see if they know of any financial aid you might be eligible for or you can check with your state rehabilitation office and your local hospital to see if they have any person who can advise you about other financial resources.
I do know you need to keep looking for what you need and asking anyone that might know because the answer to your problem could only be one question away, and you will not know unless you ask. Good Luck. 19lin

@19lin. Appreciate your input but this is more than just trying a muscle relaxer. Been there done that. If you read my thread from the very beginning you might see what I am saying differently. I am in more pain now than yesterday. Every day its getting a bit more unbearable. I am not in enough pain to get any type of help from the state. Why? because my Doctors are not putting in my medical notes that I am in chronic pain. No one wants to be involved. So I am being pushed aside with still no answers. I am stuck right now and I am angry and this is my venting place right now. (Sorry) You all are the only ones listening. It all revolves around money doesn't it. So sad. I am one in millions who has a medical problem and I know I am far from disabled but I am in a great deal of pain and after 14 months my Doctor's have stopped trying or helping me pursue. If I win the lottery I will be on the first plane to Dr.Adil Bharuccha in Rochester who @hew told me to see. My lower back has been a problem lately and right sided leg pain again. I know it all ties in with this damaged muscle/nerve issue. Thanks for your input. Everyone's!

@leigho55 You brought up one thing, ask the doctors to enter in your record that you are having strong pain or are reporting strong pain. Sometimes they will do this if you ask. It helps if you have a reason for asking. In my case, I needed it for documentation for benefits and in most cases they entered it in. If they object then ask them for an objective pain measure, of course, there is no FDA approved pain measuring system and if they refuse then they are saying they do not believe you have pain, which could be a good reason to ask for a transfer to a different doctor.
I wish I knew something that might help you more. Another thing I learned from others is ask the doctor what they would do in your place or ask how you can make things better. Some times they will have good suggestions. Good Luck. 19lin

Thank you @19lin. I am losing my insurance coverage soon so I am in a really difficult spot right now. I wont be able to see any of my Doctor's who have been involved in my care. Especially the Doctors who have treated me since this medical mishap. I e-mail and ask questions on the portal's all the time and I know it is only the medical assistant responding. No one wants to be involved anymore. Like I have said before the Doctors talk to me and look at me like I am nuts. Every time I go in I end up in tears. I leave with no answers. I have to request all my medical notes next week from the Doctors who have treated me the past 14 months. I will end up writing a book here so I am signing off for now. I am not looking for more prescription medication. I do get relief to a certain point but it does not last very long. Thank you again.

I am working very hard on getting help to continue my insurance. Something very wrong is happening. Last night trying to sleep was the worst I have ever experienced so far. I cannot lay on my back to sleep the pressure from my tailbone was so bad. I could not sleep on my stomach because the pain radiated deep into my right pelvic floor area that I have been talking about. This is for sure nerve pain out of control. Besides the deep muscle pain now my back is getting weak and so sore. I have asked a couple of my Doctors what would you do if this happened to your wife? sister? mother? and I get blank stares. No one wanted to be involved. What kind of Doctor's do this? Leave a patient who is progressively getting deeper into pain because what is damaged inside her is not being addressed properly. I am ranting again. I have a lot of calls to make this week but I don't think I am going to get anywhere. Thank you again for listening.

Hi @leigho55,

That sounds really painful! I'm sorry.
I would like to introduce you to past members @kellym, @trishie, @hew, who have talked extensively about pelvic floor dysfunction/levator ani syndrome. I hope they can provide some insight for you.

I also found a great article on the internet that provides an in-depth look at levator muscles spasm, possible causes and treatment: http://bit.ly/2hgyN9Z

@leigho55, from what I've researched so far, any injury in that area, even years ago, can lead to damage and wear and tear of these muscles. Is surgery an option, and if so have you considered it?

@hew. Me again. My insurance is renewed all is good with continuing care. I cannot get into Mayo in Rochester to see Dr. Adil Bharucha or his team. Mayo here in Jacksonville just called and denied seeing me. I called to see an Internal medicine Doctor as I was told to do and since it could be possibly a surgical error (?) we don't know anything to even suggest that, I am denied. Fourteen months of continued and progressive pain and I am just trying to get in to get to Rochester and I can't. Thank you again for all your insight and help. You had given me a bit of hope 🙂
