Tuberculosis Inquiry

Posted by jordan52 @jordan52, Jul 13, 2016

I was diagnosed with TB back in 2014 and sought treatment. I followed my doctors orders as far as taking the prescribed medications for 6 months. I am 36 yrs old right now, Asian. I am just curious, is there a possibility that the disease can come back? Am I totally cured? Thank you for your response.

Hi @jordan52, this is a great question; unfortunately, I am not a doctor so I can't tell you if you're completely cured or not. However, I did find that there are many different kinds of TB, which means some of them are treated differently. If you check out this article, you'll see that treatment is typically a long process and some kinds of TB can resist drugs: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/tuberculosis/diagnosis-treatment/treatment/txc-20188961?_ga=1.45289383.2041586112.1466604097

I'm tagging @flor and @lbotyans who have both written about TB before and may be able to share their experiences with you.

Have you noticed any symptoms returning? Have you had a follow up since you finished treatment?
