Pancreatic cyst

Posted by Bonita @bonitav, May 20, 2016

Pancreatic cyst detected via ultrasound and further analyzed via specialized endoscopy. Presently not malignant, but am wondering how long it could take in order for it to become malignant. Anyone dealt with pancreatic issues, pre-malignancy, etc? My Gi ordered multiple labs and has scheduled colonoscopy because of other symptoms.

Thanks for asking Teresa.. @hopeful33250. I had surgery in November. A section of small bowel, small amount of colon (all for Crohns .. stenosing, stricture, etc.) and gall bladder. Took quite some time to recover totally and not so sure I'm back to previous energy level. Will consult with GI in January to discuss a biologic drug treatment to try to stop the Crohns. Pancreatic cyst remains stable. That exam early next year. I find the surgery left me with some depression, which surprised me. I can cry at the least thing. Did some research and learned that happens with some patients.
Hope this finds things going well with you. Thanks again for checking up with me.

Hi Teresa @hopeful33250 - checking in and hope this finds you doing well. Seems several people I know are having health issues.
I'm scheduled to begin treatment with Stelara for Crohns next week. I probably need to post in the digestive disease group to see if anyone has any tips re the side effects of Stelara. I've avoided the biologic drugs but have reached the end of my rope, it seems. Wouldn't be good to have another digestive surgery. GI can't tell me for sure that this treatment will be the answer. As usual.. 🙂

Let me hear from you... Bonnie

@bonitav Thanks for your note and update. I hope that your treatment with Stelara helps you. Keep me posted on your progress, I'll be praying that it works well. I had my test last week and the results were good. There were no new carcinoid cancer lesions and I'm free for another year before I have to have another "look-see."

@hopeful33250, That's wonderful news Teresa. I know you're feeling relieved knowing you won't need another scan soon. Happy for you. Thanks for your support. A little worried about Stelara but will keep you updated. Take care and again, thanks!

@bonitav Yes, please keep in touch. Have you started the Stelara yet?

REPLY

No haven't started it yet. Waiting for the pharmacy (that does specific formulations) to get it to the fusion lab at the hospital. Thanks. Will let you know how it goes. Stelara has been approved for use for other conditions for some time but only recently for Crohns.

@bonitav So this will be administered by infusion? Have you been told how exactly it will help with the Cronhs?

No, other than it's designed to deal with the immune system and may cause one to be more apt to get infections. Had test for TB and other infections. Hope my immune system can deal with this. Thanks for asking Teresa. Still haven't heard from the hospital infusion lab.
