Mayo Clinic Patient & Family Advisory Council


The Mayo Clinic Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) is a diverse group of patients, family members, and caregivers who regularly advise Mayo Clinic on how to provide better patient-centered care, and serve the health needs of our community. PFAC members have helped transform care with their contributions including:

  • Input that drove elements of the redesign for Mayo Clinic’s critical care unit
  • Insights that improved wording on patient surveys and materials
  • And much more

Becoming a PFAC Member

We are looking for representatives with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives who want to have a valuable impact on the patient experience at Mayo Clinic. You are ready to become a member of the PFAC, if you are:

  • 18 years old or older
  • Able to speak and communicate (read and write) in English
  • Comfortable speaking up and sharing suggestions, ideas and potential solutions
  • Able to complete orientation and devote at least one hour per month towards serving as an Advisor
  • An advocate for the diverse needs of our patients and their families
  • Respectful and can bring a positive attitude to discussions
