New Volunteer: Tom Ames
Please join us in welcoming Tom Ames to our Mayo Clinic Volunteer Programs team! Tom will be visiting inpatients with the hospitality cart at Methodist and also volunteering as a wayfinder at Saint Marys.
Q: Are you originally from the Rochester area? If not, where else have you lived?
A: Tom was born and raised in Springfield, Minnesota and graduated from Gustavus. He taught in Australia before moving to Southeast Minnesota, where he worked as a school administrator. He is now retired.
Q: When you aren't volunteering, what else do you like to do?
A: Photography, fishing, hunting, travel
Q: What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
A: His wife, a camera, and reading material
Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?
A: Being a good father and grandfather.
Q: What is your favorite thing about Mayo Clinic?
A: It's the best medical care in the world.
