Uncomfortable bladder pressure

I have been down this very same road many times. I do have IC, but I also have kidney stones!!!! After taking Cipro(for a true infection), we tried 3 diflucan pills, then, my Urologist ordered a Cat Scan. Sure enough, there is a 5-6mm stone lodged low down in right ureter. There is intense pressure which is relieved by Hydrocodone and Pyridium. They can't do the removal until Tuesday after Easter. Very frustrating. This will be my 3rd extraction. I didn't get stones until I was 55, and now they come very frequently. My father & aunt had them, so definitely a genetic factor. I hope you can get some relief soon!

Are you a woman and are you menopausal or post-menopausal? If so, you might ask your doctor about using Estrace vaginaly twice a week. I was diagnosed with IC with no relief from bladder spasms or lower abd pain with medication until I visited a Urogynocologist, who prescribed the Estrace. He also suggested a very low dose of Valium when needed, which I never needed after starting the Estrace.

i agree with allytx. when my symptoms of IC first started, pressure was one of them.

I wish more people knew about IC. Even the doctors I went to didn't know about it at first. I felt crazy, trying to tell them how it hurt, and yet there was no infection. I have two friends who have it, too, so it must not be all that uncommon.

Wine definately sets off a flare for me and sometimes chocolate does too. There is an IC diet that really helps with a flare and a urologist can often prescribe helpful meds. It's very frustrating, but there are two great websites for interstitial cystitis. Look up IC diet, too. Best of luck!

You may have interstitial cystitis and if so, cranberry will make it worse. You may want to read up on it and see a urologist. I have it and
often it goes undiagnosed for years.

Thank you. I think that it is interstitial cystitis. My doctor wanted to prescribe me another antibiotic, and I opted out of taking it. He said if THAT didn't work, that I should go see a urologist. I decided to do get off of my prescriptions (birth control and concerta) and do a cleanse for a week. I pretty much had immediate relief and didn't notice a flare up until I had a couple glasses of wine a couple weeks later. I tried wine again a week or so later, and had the pain/pressure again. So, I've come to the conclusion that wine causes it to flare up. Maybe it is the tannins or the chemicals (from the grapes). Obviously, this is an unprofessional diagnosis that I made—but I haven't had any issues for the last month or so. I also work with a retired nurse that recommended taking sea buckthorn on a regular basis, so maybe that is helping too. Thanks for your input.

I have burning all the time. Nothing seems to be working.

tea and juices are the absolutely worse for me to drink. i avoid them at all costs. i only drink water, and coffee. coffee does cause symptoms, but if i didn't have that cup in the morning, i would never wake up and have any life.

I also HAVE to have my morning coffee. I use a product called javacid in it and it helps a lot. You can go to their website and get free samples to try. It's tasteless and goes in the coffee. I can give up chocolate, wine, sodas and foods, but coffee is almost impossible.

i am no doctor only if it is a uti or isnt still drink plenty of water and get cranberry juice and or the pills . i got some cranberry tablets to eat at walgreens. i dont know if you have seen a doctor only go back if you have. be persistent.

If it turns out to be interstitial cystitis, cranberry juice will make it worse.

your welcome. drink lots of water too. check with the doctor too. and like Schpier suggested maybe a urologist! in the meantime water and cranberry juice.
